30th June - SANTAL HUL Diwas

30th June is SANTAL HUL Diwas please must celebrate: 30th June 1855, the day when it was declared by thousands of Santal Indigenous People of India to start rebellion (Hul) against the opposes ion of British ruler and the money lenders. A large number of Santals assembled in a field of Bhognadihi village of Santal Paragana,Jharkhand,India.

They declared themselves as free and took oath under the leadership of Sido Murmu and Kanhu Murmu to fight unto the last against the British rulers as well as their agents. This part of a glorious history and the incident relevant to all of us is already known as “Santal Hul”. In this rebellion the Non-Tribal also fought for justice and liberty And Sacrificed those life. In this struggle of historical importance the great martyr Sido, Kanhu, Chand, Bhaero, Phulo-Jhano along with innumerable followers sacrificed those life.

The mighty arrangement of military force by British ruler was shaken and they were forced to reconsider seriously about the social, geographical and economic status of these region. As a result of “SANTAL HUL” a district named ‘SANTAL PARGANA’ was created including some portion of Bihar and Bengal .However the same was now divided into six districts but Santal Pargana Division is still there to keep the honour of our great martyrs . Special provision for safe guard of land in this tribal region was promulgated as TENANCY ACT ultimately known as SANTAL PARGANA TENANCY ACT.
